Atop the craggy, tree-dappled slopes and peaks of the Canadian Rockies, Calgary Climbing Centre’s local guides—each certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides—teach adventurers of all levels to scale rock using professional top-rope, belaying, and lead techniques. Each possesses an in-depth knowledge of the World Heritage site, enabling them to provide basic instruction on a range of outdoor paths during day trips, or teach climbers intermediate skills. As they climb, instructors may choose to lead visitors to the tops of high peaks to take in panoramic views of the range, or to the mirrored surface of glacial lakes to check their hair for bald-eagle nests. They also conduct outdoor birthday parties to introduce new climbers to the sport.
