Calgary may be landlocked, but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of tropical flair. Enter Bodega. Island native and owner Dave Richards collaborates with chef Steve Tracy and Mike Sitko to transform standard restaurant eats into Caribbean-fusion food made from organic ingredients sourced within 100 kilometers from the kitchen.
Jerk spices find their way into chicken dinners and honey bacon cheeseburgers. Jerk chicken, macaroni pie, Jerk chicken mac n cheese, and selection of chicken, beef or vegetarian roti. A few classic dishes can be found on the menu, too, including Jamaican patties stuffed with meat or, for vegetarian diners, veggies.
It’s far from the only vegetarian option, as Richards prides himself on having offerings for those with special dietary requirements. Case in point, Bodega’s selection of gluten-free beer and gluten-free dishes.
