Hockey Experts – FREE Skate Sharpening August 4-30

I heard about his deal from TheMagnificen7 on CalgaryPuck.

Hockey Experts will be offering all customers Free skate sharpening from August 4-30. There’s a limit of 3 free skate sharpening per customer per visit. You don’t need a coupon or anything to take advantage of the deal. Just bring you skates to the sharpening booth. There’s currently 2 locations in Calgary (Deerfoot Mall and Shawnessy).

I get my skates sharpened at Hockey Exports and highly recommend them. They always do a great job and do about a million times better job then Sportschek.

Hockey Experts is also one of the few locations in Calgary that offers Blackstone Flat Bottom V (FBV). I’ve got it done the last couple times and have noticed a huge improvement and highly recommend it as well. Check out Blackstone’s website for more information about the FBV.

Free Oil Change Coupon to Broken Axle

Broken Axle is located in Bridgeland and is a new automotive shop that services most makes and models of cars. They have an coupon in the Bridgeland newsletter offering a “Free Oil Change” for new customers and is valid anytime until October 31, 2010. The coupon can be found on page 16 of the Bridgeland Newsletter.

I have not tried using the coupon and can not confirm it’s authenticity. If you’re interested in this deal, I suggest you try calling them to book an appointment and let them know you’ll be using the coupon from the Bridgeland newsletter. Apparently a couple guys from CalgaryPuck simply printed out the coupon and have used it successfully. Please don’t blame me if Broken Axle decides to not honor the coupon. I’m just passing along whatever deals I stumble across. I don’t see why they wouldn’t honor the coupon. This post along with the post on CP should send a lot of future business to them if they do a good job on the free oil change.

Let me know how it goes. I would have called them immediately and tried to take advantage of this deal if I didn’t get an oil change this morning (seriously!). Could have saved me $65 today.

Dell.ca: Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty $53.99 + Free Shipping

Dell.ca currently has StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty – PC on sale for only $53.99 with free shipping. Not only is this game hard to find and pretty much sold out everywhere, it’s also $6 cheaper then what everyone else is selling it for. If you don’t mind waiting a couple days for it to ship, this is likely your best bet. If you can’t wait and need to play the game now, another option is for you to try to get Future Shop or Best Buy to price match if you’re able to find a copy locally.

Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360) game on sale at Best Buy for $1.99

Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 game is on sale for only $1.99! The game is a couple years old now, but it was one of the most popular and top selling games. The deal is only valid for the Xbox 360 (No PS3 or Wii) and is only for the game (no guitar). The sale ends August 5, 2010, but they have limited quantities and I think this will sell quickly.

Tuesday Deals – Tuesday Discounts around Calgary

It’s TUESDAY! The one day out of the week that has the best and cheapest deals! A lot of businesses seem to offer special deals on Tuesdays. Here’s a couple that I know about. Please post a comment or email me any deals that you know about. I’m cheap so I try to take advantage of these deals as often as I can.

KFC – Twoonie Tuesday

It used to actually cost a twoonie a couple years ago for 2 pieces of KFC’s finger licking chicken and individual fries. The deal seems to get more expensive every year (inflation?). I believe it costs around $2.79 now, but it’s still a very good deal. I believe you can add an extra piece of chicken or add a drink for an extra dollar. This deal works at all Calgary locations and you don’t need a coupon or anything.

Empire Theatre – Real Deal Tuesday

Big savings at the movies every Tuesday at Empire Theatre. You can buy a regular admission ticket for only $6.99 (regular $12.75). If you need to munch on something, their Combo #1 is also on sale for only $5.99 (regular around ~$10). Their most popular combo consists of a small popcorn, regular soft drink and a regular Nestlé treat! I believe you can up-size the popcorn and pop for an extra dollar. This deal works at both Calgary locations (Empire Studio 10 Macleod Trail and Empire Studio 16 Country Hills) and you don’t need any special coupons or anything.

Cineplex Theatre – Telus Tuesday 1/2 Price Movie Combo

Cineplex Theatre got Telus to sponsor their cheap Tuesday deal. That’s why they call it Telus Tuesdays. You don’t need to be a Telus customer or need any coupons or anything to take advantage of this deal. The deals work at all Cineplex Entrainment Theaters. Basically, you pay $11.83 each for an admission ticket, regular drink, and regular popcorn. This is about 50% off of what it would normally cost if you bought everything at regular price.

Cheap Chicken Wings deals at Calgary Restaurants and Pubs

Hotwings is a cool site that breaks down the price per chicken of a bunch of participating local restaurants and pubs. There’s also a ranking system and lots of customer reviews that will tell you if the wings are good or not. There’s a bunch of places that sells wings for as little as $0.10 or $0.15 each! That’s cheap!
