SPC Discount Card: Student Card vs. VIP Card

Please read carefully to make sure you buy the proper SPC card that will work for you.

The popular and well known SPC Student Card is only valid for students. If you order the new 2010-2011 SPC Card online now, you’ll get a Free $10 shopping card.” You can click here to read more information about the card or to order it now. The card costs $9 plus $2 for shipping.

There’s also a special SPC VIP Card that will allow anyone (non-students) to use the card. You can not buy the SPC VIP Card anywhere other then getting it free by ordering a 1-year subscription to LouLou magazine. An annual subscription to LouLou will cost $14.95 for 8 issues (Total of $15.70 including tax). Please note: The VIP card does not come with the free $10 shopping card and the magazine does not automatically renew.

I used to buy the SPC card every year back when I was a student. I found the card to be very handy and would save a lot of money over a course of a year. The card was accepted at about 90% of the places that I shopped and it would save me around 10-15% off my purchase. It sucks how you aren’t able to use the SPC card when you’re no longer a student.

I was not aware of the SPC VIP card until now. Apparently a ton of people on RedFlagDeals wait every year to take advantage of the LouLou magazine special just for the free SPC VIP card. I am going to order the magazine just so I can get the SPC VIP card. I have no interest in the magazine whatsoever and will likely just donate the magazine to a library or recyle the magazine as soon as I get it.

You can click this link to order the magazine to get the free SPC VIP card or you can go to RedFlagDeals to read more about this deal.

I hope I was clear and explained the difference between the two cards. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments section and I’ll try to answer them as best as I can.

There are so many ways to get the body treated, and many places to do it, but for all you Calgarians who are just waiting for a new experience to do just that, we are proud to introduce to you today’s deal at Anna’s Spa & Wellness. $59 for Spa Package Including a 25 Minute Manicure, 35 Minute Pedicure, and 60 Minute Facelift Massage at Anna’s Spa & Wellness ($153 Value)

You may have had a manicure before, granted. You may have had a pedicure before, ok. But, can you honestly say that you’ve had a Facelift Massage before? If the answer is no than please keep reading, if the answer is yes, than you should stop reading now and just skip to the part where you buy the deal. The Facelift Massage is a natural facelift through massage that is designed to be a soothing, gentle, and non-invasive approach to getting greater looking skin and an altogether more youthful exuberance. And let’s not overshadow the immaculate care that the people at Anna’s Spa & Wellness will put into all their services, too: your hands and feet are just as important to your body and wellness as your skin, so take ultimate pleasure in the manicure and pedicure included in this deal. You’ve got nothing to lose… except maybe 2 to 3 years off your smile 😉

Hockey Experts – FREE Skate Sharpening August 4-30

I heard about his deal from TheMagnificen7 on CalgaryPuck.

Hockey Experts will be offering all customers Free skate sharpening from August 4-30. There’s a limit of 3 free skate sharpening per customer per visit. You don’t need a coupon or anything to take advantage of the deal. Just bring you skates to the sharpening booth. There’s currently 2 locations in Calgary (Deerfoot Mall and Shawnessy).

I get my skates sharpened at Hockey Exports and highly recommend them. They always do a great job and do about a million times better job then Sportschek.

Hockey Experts is also one of the few locations in Calgary that offers Blackstone Flat Bottom V (FBV). I’ve got it done the last couple times and have noticed a huge improvement and highly recommend it as well. Check out Blackstone’s website for more information about the FBV.

Free Oil Change Coupon to Broken Axle

Thanks kipperfan for posting this deal on CalgaryPuck.

Broken Axle is located in Bridgeland and is a new automotive shop that services most makes and models of cars. They have an coupon in the Bridgeland newsletter offering a “Free Oil Change” for new customers and is valid anytime until October 31, 2010. The coupon can be found on page 16 of the Bridgeland Newsletter.

I have not tried using the coupon and can not confirm it’s authenticity. If you’re interested in this deal, I suggest you try calling them to book an appointment and let them know you’ll be using the coupon from the Bridgeland newsletter. Apparently a couple guys from CalgaryPuck simply printed out the coupon and have used it successfully. Please don’t blame me if Broken Axle decides to not honor the coupon. I’m just passing along whatever deals I stumble across. I don’t see why they wouldn’t honor the coupon. This post along with the post on CP should send a lot of future business to them if they do a good job on the free oil change.

Let me know how it goes. I would have called them immediately and tried to take advantage of this deal if I didn’t get an oil change this morning (seriously!). Could have saved me $65 today.
