WHAT IS FAT FREEZING?
Cryolipolysis, fat freezing is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure, and an alternative to liposuction, that targets and reduces stubborn fat cells by freezing them, without damaging surrounding tissue.
HOW DOES FAT FREEZING WORK?
Always carried out by a trained professional, fat freezing involves using a specialized device to suction the skin and body tissue between two cooling panels. This procedure cools selectively targeted areas of the body such as tummy, thighs, or arms, to a temperature that crystalizes and destroys fat cells but does not harm the surrounding tissues, such as the skin, nerves, or muscles.
The cold temperature triggers a cellular response, a process called apoptosis, or programmed cell death, within the fat cells. This causes the fat cells to undergo structural changes and eventually die off.
After the fat cells are damaged, the body’s immune system responds by sending inflammatory responses to cells in the area. These cells gradually engulf and remove the damaged fat cells from the body through the lymphatic system.
Over the following weeks and months, there is a gradual elimination as the body naturally processes and eliminates the dead fat cells. As a result, the treated area gradually becomes slimmer and more contoured.
